In detail

After 3 years after its opening the Moscow metro was divided into two parts: from the “Smolenskaya” metro station the trains are going to “Kurskaya”. Each line received its proper name: Kirovsko-Frunzenskaya (now it is calledSokolnicheskaya) andArbatsko-Pokrovskaya. Then another line appeared – it was called Gorkovskiy radius, now it is a part of theZamoskvoretskaya line from  the “Teatralnaya” to “Sokol” metro stations.

On the 1st of January 1950 the first part of theKoltsevaya ("Circular") line was opened ( from “Kurskaya” to “Park Kultury”). Thanks to this line, other lanes were interconnected, and in March of 1954 the Koltsevaya line was formed.

From November 1958 to October 1961, a full automation of the entrance in the underground was made, and now the turnstiles are fighting with the "gate-crashers". Nowadays it turns out that the Moscow metro will have the Third interchange circuit. In some places it will look like another ring of larger diameter, and somewhere nearby lanes will simply converge to the same places. Partly it has already happened in the South. Lyublinskaya (light green) and Zamoskvoretskaya (green) lines received a common concourse at the station Krasnogvardeyskaya-Zyablikovo. Zamoskovoretskaya using a small Kakhovskaya branch was connected with the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya (gray), which in turn soon "meet" Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya (orange) line, etc.

The most popular destinations of guides and tourists are the central stations of the Moscow underground: Mayakovskaya, Ploshchad Revolyutsii, Arbatskaya (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line), Komsomolskaya (circle line), Novokuznetskaya, Kropotkinskaya, Kyivevskaya (ring and radial). Vorobievy Gory and Vystavochnaya are also very interesting because of their modern construction and design.
