    One of the oldest theaters ofMoscowwas founded in 1923 by the writer and director S.I.Prokofev as a theater of Moscow Provincial Council of Trade Unions. Then from 1925 till 1940 it was directed by famous actor and director E.O.Lyubimov-Lanskoy. From 1940 till 1977 the theater troupe (since 1938 theater has a name of Moscow Council) was headed by Yury Aleksandrovich Zavadsky — the actor and director, student of K.S.Stanislavsky and E.B.Vahtangov who has founded one of the most interesting creative team of the country. Loved by the whole people famous actors stared on its stage: Vera Maretskaya, Nikolay Mordvinov, Faina Ranevskaya, Lyubov Orlova, Rostislav Plyatt, Leonid Markov, Lyudmila Shaposhnikova, Boris Ivanov, Georgiy Zhzhenov, Gennady Bortnikov, etc. In 1964 for outstanding artistic achievements the theater obtained the status of Academic Theater.
