    The Museum “Pokrovsky Cathedral” (Saint Basil`s Cathedral) is a symbol of Moscow. Almost 450 years this unique in its beauty and grandeur architectural ensemble delights, excites and fills with proud hearts of Russian people. Pokrovsky Cathedral “on the Moat” was founded based on the vow given by Tsar Ivan the Terrible before his campaign to Kazan in 1552 and Metropolitan Makarius blessing and in 1555 – 1561 it was built by Russian architects Postnik and Barma.     The Museum “Pokrovsky Cathedral” (Saint Basil`s Cathedral) is a symbol of Moscow. Almost 450 years this unique in its beauty and grandeur architectural ensemble delights, excites and fills with proud hearts of Russian people. Pokrovsky Cathedral “on the Moat” was founded based on the vow given by Tsar Ivan the Terrible before his campaign to Kazan in 1552 and Metropolitan Makarius blessing and in 1555 – 1561 it was built by Russian architects Postnik and Barma. Based on Metropolitan Makarius unique plan cathedral embodied an image of the Holy City of Jerusalem. Nine churches, most of them were consecrated in memory of Kazan campaign, were erected on the single basis.
