The Orthodox Monastery of the Holy Trinity was founded by Venerable Sergius of Radonezh in 1337. Over hundreds of years, the Trinity Lavra of St Sergius has been one of the most honoured Russian holy sites, and the largest centre of spiritual education and culture.

The theater has arisen in 1929 at the Central House of Red Army. Up to 1946 the theater carried the name of Theatre of Red Army, has been then renamed into Theatre of the Soviet Army, and since 1991 it carries the name Theatre of the Russian Army.

The F. M. Dostoevsky Museum-Apartment is located in the former wing of Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor. Family of doctor M. A. Dostoevsky, father of future writer, occupied small apartment consisted of two rooms on the ground floor. F. M. Dostoevsky who was born in the opposite wing, had been living in this apartment from 1823 to 1837. M: Novoslobodskaya or Mendeleevskaya.

Monument to Fyodor Dostoyevsky (sculptor – S. Merkurov) was originally opened on November 7, 1918 on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, and in 1936 it was moved to the square of the former Mariinskaya Hospital for the Poor, where the writer’s father worked.
